Benay Joyce (Zanavich) Parson

Benay Joyce Zanavich Parson, 78, of Avonmore, Pa. passed away Monday, May 22, 2017 at Select Specialty Care in Latrobe, Pa.  She was born Friday, June 10, 1938 in Tintown, Pa., the daughter of the late Benny and Mary Furman Zanavich.  Before her retirement she was employed by Shop N Save , and Calandrella’s Restaurant in Avonmore as a cook. She enjoyed watching QVC, reading murder mysteries written by James Patterson, her trips to the casino and most of all the time she spent with her loving family. She is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years, Clayton E “Casey” Parson, 2 daughters, Dana M. Hess and her husband John of Saltsburg and Deanne I. Mengor and her husband  Frank of Youngstown, OH., 2 grandchildren, Bobby Hess and his wife Kayla of Smithton and Frankie Mengor and his wife Tiffany of Indiana, 3 great grandchildren, Arianna Hess, Nathan Mengor and Colton Mengor, a brothers, Bernerd Zanavich and his wife Donna Jean of Saltsburg and a brother in-law Thomas Gyenes and his wife JoAnn of Clarksburg,  special friends, Pauline and Kay Emanuel of Maryland and by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son and her sister Mary Ann Gyenes.  Family will receive friends on Friday, May 26, 2017 from 6pm until time of services at 8pm in the Kelly L Corridoni Funeral Home LTD, 400 Indiana Ave, Avonmore, Pa.  Services will be conducted in the Funeral Home at 8pm with Pastor Lee Rupert, Officiating.  Interment will be private.
