Stanley Anthony “Stush” Kengerski, age 91 of Leechburg, formerly of Avonmore, passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Harmar Village in Cheswick. He was born May 1, 1925 in White Station, house 13, the son of the late Joseph and Anna Frankoski Kengerski. Before his retirement, he was first employed as a coal miner beginning in 1946 at Westmoreland Coal Company, and retired from Lincoln Fabricating Company in Penn Hills. Stush was a WWII veteran having served in the Army infantry in the European Theatre where he was wounded twice in Italy, earning him two Purple Hearts. He was a member of the St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church in Avonmore and of the DVA, UMWA, PNA #1234 in Avonmore, and VFW Post 7901, also in Avonmore. Stush was an avid Pirates fan, loved to garden, enjoyed puzzles and trips to the casino, but was happiest spending time with his great-grandson. He is survived by two daughters, Catherine A. Crupie and her husband Louis M. of Leechburg, and Valerie M. Frawley and her husband Richard A. of Penn Hills, three grandchildren, Matthew Crupie and his wife Christylynn of Leechburg, Alan Frawley (Angela) of Morningside, and Jessica Frawley of Penn Hills, one great-grandson, Mario Crupie, and numerous nieces and mephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-two years, Helen Eleanor Kotts, one brother, Edward Kengerski, and four sisters, Elizabeth Sobers, Mary Olups, Felicia Kusma, and Adel Daniels. Family will receive friends on Friday, March 31, in the Kelly L. Corridoni Funeral Home LTD, 400 Indiana Avenue, Avonmore from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 1, at 10:00 AM in the St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Avonmore with the Reverend Father Salvatore Lamendola serving as celebrant. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery, Avonmore.
