Ralph James Shannon

Ralph James Shannon 72 of Saltsburg, (Conemaugh Twp.) passed away Thursday September 8, 2016 at Excela Heath Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. He was born May 9, 1944 in Butte, Montana the son of the late George I. and Mazie Livengood Seger Shannon. Before his retirement he was employed by the Army Corp of Engineers as a Maintenance Manager at Conemaugh Dam. Ralph was a member of the Living Water Community Baptist Church in Latrobe. He was a United States Army Veteran. Ralph was an avid hunter and fisherman, he enjoyed taking long rides, visiting with friends and time spent with family at the camp he built in Benezette (Elk County). He is survived by his wife of forty-nine years, Barbara Anne Murphy Shannon, four children; Ralph J. Shannon Jr. and his wife Dawn of Saltsburg, Leigh A. Blatt and her fiancé John Bozo Jr. of Slickville, Tammy Shannon Edwards and her husband Bryan of New Alexandria and Barbara D. Frassenei and her husband “Moe” of Saltsburg, ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, three brothers; Mike Shannon and his wife Bertha of Avonmore, John Shannon and his wife Sandy of Perrysville, and Bob Shannon and his wife Ramona of Tunnelton, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three grandchildren; Krista L. Edwards, Zachary C. Jones, and Emily A. Shannon, two sisters Ethel Baker, and Peggy Dunmire, and three brothers; Charles M. Seger, Harry E, “Raz” Seger, and Julian E. “Shorty” Seger. Family will receive friends on Sunday September 11, 2016 from 2:00-4:00 P.M. and 6:00-8:00 P.M. in the Kelly L. Corridoni Funeral Home Ltd. 400 Indiana Ave. Avonmore, Pa.  Funeral Services will be conducted on Monday September 12, at 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home. Pastor Eric Brinker will officiate.
