William “Bill” Vincent Porter, 79, of Avonmore, Pa. (Tinsmill) passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at Excela Health Latrobe Hospital in Latrobe, Pa. He was born on Tuesday November 21, 1944, in McDonald, Pennsylvania, the son of the late William Everett and Helen Alberta Delsandria Porter. Before his retirement, Bill was employed as a welder/fitter, first at Reynolds Manufacturing in Avonmore, then finishing his career at Cannon Boiler Works in New Kensington. He was an avid fisherman, loved classic cars, and had a special place in his heart for all his dogs. He is survived by his wife of forty-nine years, Susan Fay Salo Porter, four children: Wendy Ann Conner of New Alexandria, Michael James Conner and his wife Andrea of West Germany, Kenneth Scott Conner (Marlene) of New Alexandria, and Tonia Delsandria Prew and her husband Hans of Somerset, Seven grandchildren, his sisters; Dawn Reno of Midway, Pa., and Jessie Hershler of Scottdale, and his brothers; Wayne Porter and his wife Patty of Ohio, and Ray Porter of Midway. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Hershler, and his brothers: Jack, Tom and Guy Porter. At Bill’s request, all services are private. Interment will take place in Westview Cemetery in Avonmore, Pa.
