William “Bill” James Peterson, 85, of Apollo, Pa. passed away on Friday, August 2, 2024, at UPMC East in Monroeville, Pa. He was born on Thursday, April 20, 1939, in Vandergrift, Pa., the son of the late Otto and Harriette Lemmon Peterson. Before his retirement, he was the Production Supervisor for Kopp Glass Co. in Swissvale, Pa. for 43 years. He loved camping, travelling, ice cream, his wife’s cooking and had a good sense of humor. He was very active at the Salina Bible Church. Life was defined by his love of God, family and others. He was a devout Christian and God burdened his heart when he was in his late teens to start a Youth for Christ ministry to share the gospel and provide Christian fellowship for local teens. He dedicated himself to this ministry for 34 years. He was also extremely active in his own church and spoke at local churches. Bill was truly devoted to the love of his life, Kathy, his wife of 62 years, whom he loved and cherished with all his heart. His children and grandchildren meant the world to him. Spending time with them was extremely important to him and they all loved him dearly. He truly leaves behind a legacy of love and faith, forever in the hearts of all he touched. Ps. 61:5b… for thou has given me the heritage of those that fear thy name. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Jean Bish Peterson of Apollo, his children, Tammy Gail Lyons and her husband, Michael of Bell Twp., Susan Diane Brewer and her husband, Tracy of Murrysville and Kelly Lynn Lyons and her husband, Michael of Bell Twp, 7 grandchildren; Amelia DeLeonibus and her husband, Brian of Monongalia, Bradley Lyons and his wife, Elizabeth of Kittanning, Samuel Lyons of Bell Twp, Zachary Lyons of Bell Twp and Emma Lyons of Bell Twp, Clayton Brewer of Murrysville and Jacob Brewer of Murrysville, one great grandchild, Faith Lyons of Kittanning and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Peterson and his sister, Linda Blystone. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at Corridoni Funeral Services, Inc., 1916 Moore Ave., North Apollo, Pa. from 4:00 PM to 7:00PM. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at Noon at the Salina Bible Church with Pastor Paul Reiner, officiating. Interment will be held at Pine Creek Baptist Cemetery in Kittanning, Pa. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bill’s memory to the Salina Bible Church Building Fund, 4132 PA-819, Avonmore, Pa. 15618.
