William Murray McIlwain, 88, of Apollo, Pa., passed away on Monday, May 1, 2023 at Allegheny Valley Hospital in Natrona Heights, Pa. He was born on Wednesday, January 30, 1935 in North Apollo, Pa. the son of the late Jesse B. and Mary E. Stitt McIlwain. Before his retirement, he was a security guard for Alcoa. He is a United States Army Veteran. He enjoyed taking walks, being outdoors, tinkering with wood, watching the Pittsburgh Pirates, Steelers and Penguins, watching golf matches on TV and liked to listen to Johnny Cash. He built his home where he loved to drink his coffee and spend time with his family. He is survived by his children; Barry McIlwain and his wife, Janie of Apollo and Michael McIlwain of Apollo and his grandchildren; James McIlwain (Rebecca), of West Vandergrift and Joseph McIlwain of Apollo. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Betty Mae Crissman McIlwain and his siblings; Mary Ann Dunmire, Dorothy Kennedy, Ruth Cunningham, Janet McIlwain, James X. McIlwain and John F. McIlwain. A Private Visitation was held on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A Parting Prayer Service was held in the funeral home on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at 6:00 PM with Father Michael Sciberras, celebrating. Interment followed at Fairview Cemetery in Spring Church, Pa.
