Thelma "Jeanie" Jean (Baird) Deemer

Thelma “Jeanie” Jean Baird Deemer, 95, of Salina, Pa., passed away on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at Pleasant Ridge in Leechburg, Pa. She was born on Saturday, September 11, 1926 in Washington Twp., the daughter of the late Joseph and Ruth Shields Baird. Before her retirement, she worked for Westinghouse Electric and then finished her career as the Post Mistress in Salina for the United States Postal Service. She was a member of the Order Eastern Star and was a Girl Scout leader for many years. She enjoyed camping, sewing, gardening and painting.  Jeanie liked traveling with her husband on their Honda Goldwing motorcycle and will always be remembered for her cheery attitude. She is survived by her children; Mark Deemer and his wife, Donna, of Salina, Melinda “Libby” Newingham of Vandergrift and Nathan Deemer of Salina, a granddaughter; Casey Strawser of Terre Haute, Indiana, 2 great grandchildren; Jack and Mary Strawser and her sister; Margaret Hixenbaugh of Delmont. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leitzell Kier Deemer and her sisters; Gail Walker and Jo Ann Baird. Family will receive friends on Monday, February 28, 2022 from 4:00 PM until time of services at 7:00 PM in the Kelly L. Corridoni Funeral Home LTD, 400 Indiana Ave., Avonmore, Pa. Services will be held in the funeral home at 7:00 PM with Pastor Lee Rupert, officiating. Interment will be held at Twin Valley Memorial Park in Delmont, Pa.
