Stanley Blair Rupert, known affectionately as Stush, 76, of Avonmore, Pa. passed away on Friday, September 6, 2024, at LGAR Health and Rehab Center in Turtle Creek, Pa. He was born on Friday, January 30, 1948, in Avonmore, Pa., the son of the late Robert and Jean Rumbaugh Rupert. He was a lifelong resident of Avonmore and a cherished member of the community. Stush graduated from Kiski Area High School in 1965 and soon after served in the Army, where he formed lasting bonds and proudly served his country. Following his military service, he dedicated many years working at the local steel factory in Avonmore, retiring after a commendable career. Known for his loveable and friendly personality, Stush enjoyed recounting tales and sharing memories with friends and family. He had the most amazing memory. He could talk for hours to anyone who would listen. He was a passionate sports fan, especially of the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was fortunate to attend 3 Steeler Superbowl games. He coached the Avonmore Moose Softball Team with a close friend, Dean Vitali. He was a lifelong member of the Avonmore Moose, Polish Club, and Slickville American Legion. Stush was an avid hunter, embarking on numerous hunting trips to Canada, Missouri, and Wyoming. Family was the cornerstone of his life. He is survived by his beloved sister, Sally Riffer and her husband, Terry of Jeannette and his nephew Adam Riffer of Dayton, Tx. He enjoyed sharing in Adam’s younger years watching him play baseball and soccer. He is also survived by his great-nephew, Joey Riffer, who was his pride and joy. He loved watching him play soccer, baseball and most recently Jeannette Jayhawk Football. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Jean Rupert and his grandmother, Hannah Rumbaugh. Family will receive friends on Monday, September 9, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Corridoni Funeral Services, Inc., 400 Indiana Ave., Avonmore, Pa. Funeral Services will follow in the funeral home at 5:00 PM with Pastor Lee Rupert, officiating. Memorial donations can be made to the Avonmore Library.
