Obituary

Roger Eugene Montali, 66, of Apollo, Pa., passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at his home. He was born on Sunday, December 16, 1956 in Avonmore, Pa., the son of the late Peter P. and Josephine F. Sharek Montali. Before his retirement, he worked for the US Department of Labor as a Mine Safety and Health Administrator in the cities of Warrendale, Pa., Wyomissing, Pa. and Beckley, WV. He was proud to train future inspectors to create a safe work environment for the coal miners while they were working. He was an avid hunter, loved socializing, working on automobiles and always made time to help out his friends and loved his Doberman Pinschers. He is survived by his brothers; Lou Montali of Avonmore,  Peter Montali and his wife, Janet, of Murrysville and his niece; Katlin Montali (George Altman) of New York. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Susan Hughes Montali. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 29, 2023 at 10:00 AM at St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, 505 Cambria Ave., Avonmore, Pa. Father John Harrold is celebrant. Interment will be held at Westview Cemetery, Avonmore, Pa.
