Robert James “Jimmy” Bracy Sr., 70, of Monroeville, formerly of Avonmore, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at UPMC Shadyside in Pittsburgh, Pa. He was born on Monday, March 8, 1954, in Avonmore, Pa., the son of the late John and Arleana Hanks Bracy. He was a United States Army veteran having served in the Persian Gulf War. He was a Deacon at the First Baptist Church in Avonmore and a police commissioner in Avonmore. Jimmy was a member of the Avonmore VFD and served on the Avonmore Borough council. Before his retirement, he worked in heavy construction where he participated in the building of mostly all the bridges in Pittsburgh. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing chess, listening to Jazz, and was a diehard Steeler fan. He will always be remembered as a very calm, collected and as a most kindhearted person. He is survived by his significant other, Lisa Ellen Isaac, his children, Nicole Walker (Herman Edwards) of Monroeville, Robert James Bracy Jr and his wife, Shaela of Vandergrift and Anyssa Bracy of Penn Hills, his 7 grandchildren, Mayah Bracy, Deshawon Bracy, Jonathan Bracy, Rhylon Bracy, Kash Wiggins, Layah Douglas and Kaylee Marie Varcasia, 3 great grandchildren, Corbin Bracy, Marley Bracy and Avery Bracy, his step-children, Ashley Moon of Pittsburgh and Warren Moon of Monroeville and his brother, John Bracy and his wife Marie of Pittsburgh. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Beverly Caldwell. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Divine Order Tabernacle, 102 Westmoreland Avenue, Avonmore, Pa. Additional viewing will be held Wednesday, September 4, 2024, from 10:00 AM until time of services promptly at 11:00 AM with Pastor Jermaine Bracy, officiating. Interment will be held at Westview Cemetery, Avonmore, Pa.
