Raymond Eugene Ashbaugh

Raymond “Eugene” Ashbaugh, 89, of Nowrytown Pa., passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at Loyalhanna Care Center in Latrobe, Pa.  . He was born in Avonmore, Pa on Saturday, July 26, 1930 to Milton and Mary Peck Ashbaugh. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Onarena Gias Ashbaugh, his parents, infant sister Betty, sister Lois Libengood and brother Richard Ashbaugh. He left behind a son Lawrence “Curly” and his wife Michelle “Pizer” Ashbaugh, a daughter Gene Prenni and his grandchildren Erika Ashbaugh, Gina, Sara and Lisa Prenni, Nicole and Michael Davis and many nieces and nephew. Eugene was a member of the first Presbyterian Church in Avonmore, Nowrytown Sportsman Club, the Apollo Elks, and served as president of the Nowrytown Water Association for many years. He worked most of his life at National Roll in Avonmore, as a Carpenter. He was a gifted woodworker and when he wasn’t working or building something he enjoyed hunting, gardening and an occasional game of golf. In his younger days, he enjoyed playing baseball and belonged to several bowling leagues. He enjoyed cooking and baking and was known by many for his gobs. He enjoyed polkas, working with stained glass and Sudoku puzzles. He loved his sports teams, the Steelers, Pirates and Penguins, West Lebanon baseball and the Saltsburg Trojans. He ran the chains for the Trojan football team for over 30 years and you could always find him center-court front row at the girls and boys basketball games. Win or lose, he was always there to support the Trojans. He was a kind and loving father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He will be sadly missed but fondly remembered. We thank all for the cards, visits, care and prayers. He fought long and he fought hard and now may he rest in peace.  A private viewing and service with Reverend Larry Armstrong were held on Friday, January 31, 2020 at the Kelly L. Corridoni Funeral Home LTS, 400 Indiana Ave., Avonmore, Pa. Interment was held at Twin Valley Memorial Park in Delmont, Pa.
