Peggy Lou (Knepshield) Mitchell

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Peggy Lou (Knepshield) Mitchell, 69, loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Peggy passed away on Friday, August 25, 2023, at Good Samaritan Hospice in Wexford, PA. She was born on Thursday, April 1, 1954, in Natrona Heights, PA, to the late Charles K. and Georganna (Ashbaugh) Knepshield. She enjoyed reading, putting puzzles together, flower gardening, attending yard sales with her husband, and experimenting with new recipes for the family get-togethers she enjoyed hosting with her daughters. Above all else, she loved to spend time with her four favorite people – her grandchildren - who lovingly called her, Graggy, that could do no wrong in her eyes, and kept her busy with their many activities. The children often lovingly joke about “nice topics at the table” which she often reminded them of. She is survived by the love of her life, her husband of 46 years, Joseph Mitchell of Gilpin Twp.; her daughters: Christy Henry (Dave Safranyos) of Gilpin Twp., and Kelly Steele (Shane) of West Leechburg; her grandchildren: Caleb Steele, Hannah Henry, Chase Henry, Nevin Steele, Alex Steele, and Maria Safranyos; her sisters: Sherry (Steve) Wertheim of Eighty Four, PA, and Fonda (Mark) Dalbow of Irwin, PA; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Keith Knepshield, and sister, Laurie Rush. All funeral arrangements are private.
