Paula Sue Jones

Paula Sue Jones, 69, of Avonmore, Pa. passed away on Friday, January 19, 2024 at Excela Health in Latrobe, Pa. She was born on Thursday, January 21, 1954 in Avonmore, Pa. the daughter of the late John Shellhammer and Providence Cicala Jones. Before her retirement, she started working for Malcolm’s in Vandergrift after graduating from college and finished her career working for National Roll in Avonmore in the accounting/payroll department. She retired in 2015. She was a devout member of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church in Avonmore, Pa. where she was an usher, member of the Altar Rosary Society and a teller. She was the Mayor of Avonmore since 2017. She enjoyed playing bingo at the Senior Center, sewing, crafting and loved to travel with her sister internationally and throughout the United States. Paula loved Avonmore and chose to never leave the town she so loved. She is survived by her sister, Carol Ann Shannon and her husband, Patrick of Bradford, Pa. and her nephew; Tynan Shannon and his wife, Michelle of Wooster, OH. A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday January 30, 2024 at 10:00 AM at St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, 505 Cambria Ave., Avonmore, Pa. with Father John Harrold as celebrant. Interment will take place at Westview Cemetery in Avonmore, Pa. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Paula's memory to St. Ambrose Church, 505 Cambria Ave., Avonmore, Pa. 15618
