Nikki Akins Obituary

Nikki Marie Paul Akins, of Leechburg, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2026, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous 1 year battle with cancer.

Born in Gilpin Township, Nikki was the beloved daughter of the late Edward Paul and Julia Doyle Paul Poli. She was a loving sister, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin, and friend whose kindness, humor, and generous spirit touched many lives.

Nikki spent many years tending bar at numerous establishments throughout Leechburg and Delmont, where she built lasting friendships and was known for her warm smile and welcoming personality. She also worked at Kensington Windows. In her free time, she enjoyed completing Sudoku puzzles, cheering on her beloved Pittsburgh Steelers, playing scratch-off lottery tickets, and spending time with her cherished dog, Lulu.

She is survived by her devoted sister and caregiver, Janel McKee with whom she lived with for the past year, her brothers, Gregory Paul and Anthony (Martha) Poli; her sister-in-law, Glenda Paul; her special niece, Maria Paul; her special nephew, Eddy Paul; a host of loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; her husband, Tom Akins; and her brother-in-law, Jeff Akins.

In addition to her parents, Nikki was preceded in death by her stepfather, Adolph Poli; her brother, Leslie Paul; her brother-in-law, Ed McKee; her sister-in-law, Claudia Paul; her maternal grandparents, Francis “Connie” Doyle and Julia Carroll Doyle; and her paternal grandparents, John and Edith Paul.

A Celebration of Nikki’s Life will be held on Sunday, August 2, at the Marconi Club. Family and friends are invited to gather to share memories, celebrate her life, and honor the love and laughter she brought to so many.

Nikki will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.
