Nancy Lavelle Craig

Nancy Lavelle Givens Shermenti Craig, was called to eternal rest at age 83, on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, in Indiana, Pennsylvania.  She was born on Wednesday, January 15, 1941, in East Liverpool, Ohio, to Rhoda Coretta Steele Givens and James Oliver Givens.  Nancy is survived by her four children, Joseph J Shermenti III of Saltsburg, PA, Jill M. (Rick) Lickenfelt of New Florence, Michael J (Susan) Shermenti of Saltsburg, Melissa R (Russell) Weaver of Vandergrift.  Her six grandchildren, Michael (Ashley) Shermenti, Steven Shermenti, Shayna Shermenti, all of Saltsburg, Joel (Esther) DeMary of Elwood City, Jeremy Weaver, Jordyn Weaver of Vandergrift.   Two great-grandchildren, Easton Shermenti and Harper DeMary, four stepchildren and many step-grandchildren.  Nancy was blessed with many wonderful nieces, nephews and friends, who rallied, prayed and supported her throughout her health journey.  Nancy’s greatest joys in life were with her children and grandchildren.  She loved hosting family holidays and bringing her dearest ones together.  Before her retirement, Nancy was self-employed for many years, working as a home-health aid and housekeeper in the Saltsburg area.  Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Dana Craig, with whom she had spent 26 years of marriage and preached the teachings of Jesus Christ on missions to Ecuador, Kenya and Scotland.  She was preceded in death by all ten of her siblings:  Margaret Merle Haught, James Givens, Carl Givens, Anna Ruth Smith, Ralph Givens, Roy Givens, Wanda Miller, Janice Finney, Edna Givens and Nedra Givens.  Family will receive visitors at Corridoni Funeral Services, 400 Indiana Avenue, Avonmore on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.  Services will be conducted at 1:00 PM with Pastor Paul Price Officiating.  Interment will follow at West View Cemetery Avonmore, Pa.  Family suggests memorial contributions be made in Nancy's memory to Birdie's Closet, C/O IRMC Womens Imaging Center, 835 Hospital Road, Indiana, PA 15701.
