Michael Anthony Berardesca, 83, of Saltsburg, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at Scenery Hill Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Indiana, PA.
Born in New Haven, Connecticut, Michael later made his home in the Saltsburg area with his beloved wife, Carmella, where he spent the remainder of his life. A man whose heart and hands were devoted to his craft, Michael found great joy in woodworking. Over the years, he worked as a skilled carpenter for Solar Cabinet Shop, served his community as a volunteer firefighter for the Tunnelton Fire Station, and as a Conemaugh Township Supervisor. Alongside Carmella, he owned and operated Cornerstone Gardens—more than just a garden center, it was a place where friends and neighbors found comfort, encouragement, and the warmth of Christ’s love. The kindness and faith that Michael and Carmella shared made Cornerstone a true reflection of their generous spirits.
Michael was a devoted member of St. Matthew Catholic Church, where he faithfully fried fish every Lenten season—an act of service that brought him great joy. His quiet strength, unwavering work ethic, and deep devotion to his family will be lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Taresa DiLascio of Saltsburg (Dave Michetti of Bridgeville); his bonus daughter, Margaret Rumbaugh of Avonmore (John); grandsons Michael Anthony DiLascio of Saltsburg (Brandi) and Matthew DiLascio of Pittsburgh (Allison); and great-grandchildren Roman, Camilla, Carina, Rocco, and Siena DiLascio. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Theresa (Dellamura) Yashenko of Saltsburg; nephews Christopher Stelma of Irwin (Carrie) and James Aaron of Blairsville (Diann); and nieces Patricia McGinnis of Saltsburg (John) and Mary Stelma of Tunnelton.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carmella (Dellamura) Berardesca; his parents, Anthony and Ruth (Stacy) Berardesca; his brothers Robert and Adam “Butch” Berardesca, all of New Haven, Connecticut; his sister-in-law Rae Stelma of Saltsburg; brothers-in-law Eugene Stelma and Adam “Butch” Yashenko, both of Saltsburg; and nephew Adam “Butch” Yashenko of Saltsburg.
Michael’s family finds comfort in knowing that he has been reunited with his loved ones who passed before him and that his legacy of love, craftsmanship, and faith will continue to live on in those he leaves behind.
Family will receive friends on Friday, November 14, 2025 at Corridoni Funeral Services, Inc., 400 Indiana Ave., Avonmore, Pa. from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
