Mary Jane (Miller) Speer

Mary Jane (Miller) Speer, 91, of Lower Burrell (formerly of Apollo), went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 10, 2022.  She was the daughter of the late John and Catherine Miller, born on Monday, February 23, 1931, in Arnold, PA.  Mary Jane was preceded to heaven by her husband of 71 years, Donald P. Speer.  She is survived by her children; Nancy J. (Stanley) Molesky of Plainfield, IN., Marilyn L. (Michael) Parobek of Lower Burrell, D. James (Wilda) Speer of New Kensington, David J. (Becky) Speer of Avonmore and Jo-An C. Paquette of Magnolia, DE.  Mary Jane is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, her brother J. Raymond Miller of Littleton, CO., and her sister, Kathleen L. Hobaugh of Maryville, TN.  She was a 1949 graduate of Arnold High School and worked as a mail girl for Wear Ever in the Alcoa Building.   Mary Jane was a member of the Lower Burrell Baptist Church.  She loved Jesus.  She served the Lord as a Sunday School Teacher and Bible School teacher.  Mary Jane played the piano and sang in various church choirs.  She volunteered with Meals on Wheels and worked with the Hope Center.  She loved helping people.  Going to and having garage sales was a hobby.  Mary Jane was an avid reader, loved playing games, sewing, coloring, and doing word finds.  A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 27, 2022, at the Lower Burrell Baptist Church, 2935 Leechburg Road, New Kensington, PA  15068 at 2:00 pm.  In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations be given to the Lower Burrell Baptist Church in Mary Jane’s memory.
