Martha Leona (Rischel) Spires Abarbanell

Martha Leona Rischel Spires Abarbanell, 103, of Vandergrift, Pa. (Parks Twp.) passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at her home. She was born on Wednesday, May 31, 1922 in Parks Twp., Pa. the daughter of the late Lynus S. and Hanna “Anna” Bone Rischel. Martha was a life member of the Reformation Lutheran Church in Kepple Hill, where she was a very active and would sew lap robes for the church. She enjoyed bowling and gardening and was a great cook. She is survived by her children, Richard S. Spires and his wife, Patty of Parks Twp., James A. Spires and his wife, Susan of Peach Tree City, Ga. and Susan E. Spires of Parks Twp., 4 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and her sister-in-law, Betty Rischel of Meadville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Scott Spires in 1952 and her second husband, Jess Robert Abarbanell in 2000, her brothers, Orvis, Devere, Stephen and Walter Rischel and her sisters, Alice Sylvis and Audrey Dill. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, from 11:00 AM until time of services at Noon at Corridoni Funeral Services, Inc., 1916 Moore Ave., North Apollo, Pa. Pastor Christine Bridge will officiate. Interment will take place at Fairview Cemetery in Spring Church, Pa.
