Lorin Walker Obituary

Trustee Lorin-Keith Anthony Walker, aged 40, passed away Tuesday morning, May 24th, 2022, after a lingering illness.  Lorin was born November 7th, 1981, in Latrobe, Pennsylvania to Andrew Pryor Jr and Victoria (Banks) Stevens.  He attended and graduated from Kiski Area High School in Vandergrift PA, where he played on the football team, and sang in Concert Choir, Show Choir and Chorale.  Lorin attended Northern Westmoreland Career and Technology Center in New Kensing ton PA, where he graduated with a Certificate in Computer programming. He continued his education earning a Certificate in Advanced Computer Programing at RETS Technical Institute.  He also attended and graduated from Job Core in Pittsburgh PA.

Lorin was very active in his church from a young age. He sang in the First Baptist Church youth Choir and acted in various plays and skits. He was on the Usher Board; he was the Head of the Audio/Visual Department. He was Chairman of the Trustee Board and an Armorbearer for Rev. Carey Stevens. He was always willing to help, he was always willing to serve, driving the church van, chaperoning children, singing. He was the first to be called when someone was moving- often to his chagrin! He would laughingly call himself the “pack mule of the family” and give out his large boisterous laugh. He knew more quotes from “Ace Ventura” and “Martin” than the actors themselves!

Lorin loved to laugh and if you knew him, you knew he laughed a lot! But he was serious about his Lord. He wasn’t always the first to jump up and speak, but when he did, he could deliver a Word from the Lord quickly and without preparation. He knew the Word and to rightly divide the Word of Truth. He loved to study his Word and listen to sermons. When he was young Lorin had his own Sunday morning services on his front steps. The neighbors would come out and sit on their porch, listening as Lorin -dressed in his suit- introduced the choir (his sisters), prayed and gave a sermon. The only thing he didn’t do was take the offering!

Lorin loved music. He would often just sit in his quiet place and listen to his gospel. He also like to listen and sing along to his favorite groups. His musical interests varied from Thomas Whitfield to Boys to Men. Lorin just liked, nice, tight harmony, beautiful melodies and words that had meaning. He was a humble man, and never realized just how important he was to all of us. His Smile, that laugh, his jokes, his spirit all will be missed.

He was preceded in death by his birth father Andrew Pryor Jr, and Stepfather Rev. Carey Stevens. He leaves behind his mother Victoria (Banks)Stevens, his sisters Venus M. (Spencer) Rogozinski of Avonmore, Drasha D. (Raymond) Walker-Eyth of Verona, Nina K. Hicks of Penn Hills Alicia Pryor of New Kensington; his brothers Dorian J. Hicks, of Penn Hills and Andrew Pryor III of New Kensington; His nieces and nephews Alannah (Korey) Clever, Dominic Rogozinski, Raymari Eyth, Nian Eyth, Lyric Harris and Melody Hicks; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Family will receive friends on Friday, May 27, 2022 at the Divine Order Tabernacle, 102 Westmoreland Ave., Avonmore, Pa. from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
