Julia Kay Custer Reed, 83, of Brownstown, passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at her home. She was born Sunday, August 6, 1939, in Rimersburg (Clarion County) the daughter of the late Marion Ardell and Julia Mae Minnick Custer. Before her retirement, she was a line cook at Calandrella’s restaurant for over 27 years. She enjoyed shopping at thrift stores, sewing, collecting doll babies, reading Harlequin Romance books and was happiest spending time with her family. She is survived by 7 children, Robert N Reed and his wife, Rhonda, of Saltsburg, Susan M Nelson and her husband, Andrew, of Brownstown, Leslie A Reed of Brownstown, Estella K Nelson and her husband, James, of Vandergrift, Martin D Reed of Apollo, Marie E Bottles of Brownstown and Edward W Reed and his wife, Deborah, of Brownstown, 34 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, her sister, Mary Dryzga, of Clarion and Terry Bratkovich and her husband, Dennis, of Grafton, Ohio and her brother; Thomas Custer of Emlenton and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice DeWayne Reed Sr., children, Eric Lee Custer, Maurice D Reed, Jr, Thomas L Reed, Terry L Reed and Roger J Reed. Her brother, Jerry “Cus” Reed and her sister, Carol Merryman. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, from 2:00 pm to time of services at 7:00 pm in the Kelly L. Corridoni Funeral Home, LTD, 400 Indiana Avenue, Avonmore, PA. Services will be conducted at 7:00 pm in the funeral home with Pastor Lee Rupert officiating. Interment will follow at Alcoa Cemetery in New Bethlehem, PA
