Joyce Lorraine Tew Shellhamer, 57, of Vandergrift, Pa. passed away on Friday, January 26, 2024, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa. after an accident in Riverfront Park, Kittanning. She was born on Friday, October 21, 1966 in Tarentum, Pa., the daughter of Pearl Elizabeth Boreland Tew and the late Floyd B. Tew. She attended Kiski Area High School, graduating in 1984 and attended Sawyer School of Business in Pittsburgh, Pa. receiving a degree in Hospitality and Tourism. She worked 29 years for Ward Trucking in Harmerville, Pa. as a clerical office worker. She had many interests and hobbies. Joyce excelled in several interests including photography, music, writing, reading gardening, canning, and cooking/baking. She was deeply involved in the New Kensington Camera Club. Her passion for photography inspired her to start her own business, Dream Katcher Photography. She has photos on display at The Pittsburgh Mills Gallery. Joyce also authored a children’s book called “Mother Knows Best”. Her accomplishments did not stop there, she also co-wrote a blue grass song, “Beneath The Willows”. She is survived by her 4 children; Devin L. Smith and her husband, Bryan of Clarion, Megan R. Shellhammer of Kittanning, Griffin Shellhammer of Kittanning and Morgan R. Shellhammer (Cameron Quinn) of Kittanning, her mother; Pearl Elizabeth Irvine Tew, her significant other, Edward Porter of Parks Twp., her ex-husband, Robert L. Shellhammer (Kimberly Keeling) of Kittanning, her sisters; Pamela Walker and her husband, James of Lower Burrell and Gloria Walker of Natrona Heights, many aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family and her beloved pets; Jake, Furby and Houdini. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Corridoni Funeral Services, Inc, 1916 Moore Ave., North Apollo, Pa. Additional visitation will be held Thursday, February 1, 2024 at Cochran’s Mill Methodist Church in Burrell Twp., Pa. from 11:00 AM until time of services at Noon with Reverend Craig Lindahl, officiating. Interment will be held at Cochran’s Mill Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family suggest donations to be made in Joyce’s memory to Armstrong Center for Community Learning, 104 Armstrong St, Suite A, Ford City, Pa. 16226, or New Kensington Camera Club, 1118 Fox Point Dr., Cheswick, Pa. 15024.
