John Peter Ziemianski, 91, of Avonmore passed away on Monday, April 7, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Sunday, September 13, 1933, in Brownstown, PA, the son of the late Peter and Catherine Stapinski Ziemianski. John was a member of the
St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church in Avonmore, PA, where he had the distinction of being a long-time lector. He was a member of the Avonmore Lions Club, and a member of the PNA Lodge # 1234 also in Avonmore where he has served as an officer since 1957 and also held the office of President beginning in 1953 to the present. John was a past member of the Avonmore Water Authority, where he served as chairman and was very instrumental in bringing the first sewage plant to Avonmore which was also the first in the Kiskiminetas Water Shed. He also represented his community as a member of the Avonmore Borough Council. He graduated in 1951 from Bell Avon High School as class valedictorian. He then was awarded an academic/athletic scholarship to St. Vincent College; transferring to Carnegie Institute of Technology (CMU presently) in 1956, he earned a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in metallurgical engineering. John began his career in Leechburg as a metallurgist I and through many promotions progressed to Director of Market and Product Development at Allegheny Ludlum (ATI). During his tenure he conducted numerous technical presentations, authored publications, and was responsible for the assignment of seven US Patents to Allegheny Ludlum. John enjoyed golf, bowling, polish music and dancing. John’s coaching career began with his sons in Bell Avon Little League, and in later years he applied his talent to the PNA softball team. He never waivered in his commitment to athletics, attending every event possible in which his grandchildren participated. John’s true passion was his family, all of which stemmed from his pride in his heritage. He and wife, Florence, traveled to Poland and Italy on five different occasions to visit relatives and explore their parent’s birth villages. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Florence Mary Rudolph Ziemianski, four children, Frank Ziemianski and his wife, Jennifer, of Avonmore, John A. Ziemianski and his wife, Leslie, of Bell Township, Bernie Ziemianski and his wife, Heidi, of Avonmore, Renee Ziemianski of Charlotte, NC, six grandchildren; Reed, Ross, Cecily, Caitlyn, Clare and Steve and five great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Anice Malefski. Family will receive friends on Friday, April 11, 2025, from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the Corridoni Funeral Services, Inc., 400 Indiana Avenue, Avonmore, PA. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at 10:00 am in St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Avonmore, PA. Father Salvatore Lamendola will be celebrant. Interment will follow at Westview Cemetery in Avonmore. In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorial contributions be made in John’s memory to the Avonmore Senior Center, P.O. Box 153, Avonmore, PA 15618. The family would like to give a special thank you to Independence Health System Hospice, for all their compassion and care.
