John Eugene Zanavich, 53, of Avonmore, Pa. passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at Independence Health System in Greensburg, Pa. He was born in Latrobe, Pa. on Thursday, November 18, 1971, the son of the late Bernerd Andrew and Donna Jean Sampsell Zanavich. He worked for the Lumber Store & More for over 30 years. John was a member of the Kiski Heights Sportsman Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, loved spending time at his camp in Medix Run, watching horror movies, enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Steelers, Penguins and Pirates and loved to cook. He loved his dogs and owned multiple beagles and other types of dogs throughout the years. John will always be remembered for his generosity and his big heart. He is survived by his siblings, Bernie A. Zanavich II of Saltsburg, Karen Gould and her husband, Paul of Saltsburg, Sonya Zanavich of Baltimore, Md, his nephew, Justin Gould of Saltsburg, his niece, Brittany Gould (James) of Johnstown, his dear close friend, John Sinclair (Jen) and his beloved dog, Zena. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Frank Zanavich and his faithful companion, She-Ra. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. All funeral arrangements are private.
