John R. Kennedy

John R. Kennedy, 60, of Leechburg, passed away at Quality of Life Services of Apollo on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2019. John was born Oct. 30, 1958, in Augsburg, Germany, to John M. Kennedy and Patricia (Thompson) Kennedy. John attended Leechburg Area School District and was a mechanic most of his working life, a trade he learned from his late father. John struggled throughout his life with severe mental illness, which caused him to be alienated from most people and made relationships difficult. Despite his challenges, he loved good conversation and valued those who were kind to him and helped him. John was always an enormous help to his family with keeping our cars on the road when he was younger. John was preceded in death by his father and an infant brother, Joseph. He is survived by a daughter, Anne Kennedy, of Pittsburgh; his mother, Patricia Kennedy; a sister, Robin (Ronald) Patton, of Leechburg; and his youngest brother, Edward (Carrie Riggle) Kennedy, of Vandergrift; nephews, Justin Hays, Brandon Kennedy and Eric Hays; and his extended family, paternal and maternal. John will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
