John Alan Bodnar 64, of Apollo, passed away on Monday, July 5, 2021, at his home. He was born on Saturday, June 1, 1957, in Apollo (Kiski Township), the son of the late John and Geraldine Vivian Richardson Bodnar. John was a 1975 graduate of Apollo Ridge High School. Before his retirement he was employed as a coal miner, first by R & P Coal Company which later became Console Energy for over 20 years. He enjoyed family, shooting pool, kayaking, motorcycles, cooking, eating out at restaurants, traveling, fishing and socializing with friends. He is survived by three sisters, Marilyn Rupert and her husband, Philip, of Apollo, Joanne Flint of Englewood, FL, Karen McCool of Homer City, 2 brothers, Tom Bodnar (Bonita) of Apollo, and Randy Bodnar and his wife, Elaine, also of Apollo and numerous nieces and nephews. John is also survived by two special friends, Michael Maldonado and his wife, Jackie, of Apollo and Josh Maldonado also of Apollo. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Betty Brown Crosby Bodnar, brothers, Gerald Bodnar (his twin), in infancy and David Bodnar. Family will receive friends on Thursday, July 8, 2021, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM until time of services at 8:00 PM in the Kelly L. Corridoni Funeral Home, LTD, 1916 Moore Avenue, North Apollo, PA. Services will be held in the funeral home with Pastor Lee Rupert officiating. Family suggests in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made in John’s memory to the Kiski Township Volunteer Department, 1037 State Route 56, Apollo, PA 15613. Interment will take place at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Leechburg.
