James “Jimbo” Howard Shirley, 90, of Avonmore, Pa. (Bell Township), passed away on Monday, January 19, 2026, at William Penn Care Center in Jeannette, Pa. He was born on Thursday, February 21, 1935, in Conemaugh Township, Pa. the son of the late Howard J. and Martha McMahon Shirley. He was a United States Navy veteran. Before his retirement, he worked as a coal miner for Canterbury Coal Company. He enjoyed working in his yard. He is survived by his sister, Patricia Myers of Salina and his nephews, Raymond Myers and his wife, Kathy of North Apollo and Richard Myers of Salina. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Raymond A. Myers Sr. Visitation and Services are private. Interment will take place at Westview Cemetery in Avonmore, Pa.
