James “Diamond Jim” Anthony DeLuca, 84, of Apollo, Pa. passed away on Sunday, February 8, 2025 at his niece’s home in Salem Twp., Pa. He was born on Wednesday, May 7, 1941, in Saltsburg, Pa the son of the late Nicholas and Anna Postorelo Deluca. Before his retirement, he worked in the maintenance/track departments for Conrail Railroad. He enjoyed fishing, especially his trips to Erie and Port Clinton, Oh. He was an avid hunter who achieved the distinction of a Boone and Crockett ranking for a caribou he harvested. He made many hunting trips to Colorado and Canada and earned his nickname playing cards. He is survived by his son, James C. DeLuca of Saltsburg, his brother, Guido DeLuca of Blairsville, his sisters, Edith Twardowski of Latrobe, Pacifica “Bessie” Altman of Avonmore, Mary Valore of Florida, his niece who took care of him Rebecca Nalevanko and her husband, Jeffrey of Salem Twp, his loving companion, Bella and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores Elliott DeLuca, his daughter, Veronic DeLuca, his granddaughter, Darian DeLuca, his brothers, Carmen, Nicholas, Angelo, Joseph and Arcole DeLuca and his sisters, Cecilia Sorbin and Betty Duke. At his request all funeral arrangements are private.
