James M. (JIMMIE) Cuffia, passed away in his home with his daughter by his side at Mallard Landing Village, Surfside Beach, SC. He was born June 27, 1933, to the late James and Jennie (Mazziotti) Cuffia in West Vandergrift. He was a former resident of Vandergrift and Washington Twp before moving to Surfside Beach, SC in May 2017. He was Baptized, attended Sunday School, received First Holy Communion, was Confirmed, Past President of The Holy Name Society, Served on the Parish Council, Chartered Member of Saint Vincent DePaul, Served on the D.E.D Committee for several years during the periods of House-to-House Collections, Member of Knights of Columbus, all at St Gertrude Church Vandergrift. Graduate of Vandergrift High School in 1952. Served his country with the US Army Security Agency as a SP5 from 1953 to 1956. Member of American Legion Post 114, in Vandergrift since 1956. A graduate of the New Kensington Commercial School in 1959. Attended Marriage Classes and exchanged Marriage Vows with Virginia M. Huska September 03, 1960 in Holy Trinity Church East Vandergrift. Served the Commonwealth of Penna., as an Auditor and Supervisor for 32 years. While in Grade School he delivered the Grit Paper. During High School, summer vacations and before entering the Military, he worked part-time and temporarily at, Roger’s Hardware, Calderon’s Tire, Dillick Lumber, Zaccagninni Mushroom, Scaife’s, American Shim Steel and US steel as a Clerk and Laborer. While attending Commercial School and immediately after graduating he worked at Santy’s Service, Paul Jones Auctioneer, J. Roy Jones Construction & Beaver Run Limestone Companies and Jackson Welding Supply, in Serving, Recording, Bookkeeping and Accounting. He was preceded in death by his wife Virginia M. Huska Cuffia, December 07, 2003 and his furry friends Rusty and Rheena, Rocky. He is survived by his daughter Denise J. Guajardo of Surfside Beach, SC, his son Christopher of Manhattan, NY and a grand-daughter Savannah Marie Guajardo of Surfside Beach SC. Deceased request no masses, flowers, memorials or contributions. At the deceased request, there will be no visitations Burial will be private with a graveside service at Greenwood Memorial Park Cemetery, Lower Burrell, Pa.
