Harry Elsworth Hess, 85, of Saltsburg, Pa., passed away on Monday, March 23, 2020 at the Communities of Indian Haven in Indiana, Pa. He was born, Friday, February 8, 1935 in Saltsburg, Pa., the son of the late Harry L. and Alice M. Fennell Hess. He graduated from Saltsburg High School in 1953. Harry was a United States Army Veteran. During his working career, he worked as a parts man for Hart Motors, as a draftsman for Joy Manufacturing in Elders Ridge, at Alcoa in Pittsburgh, Carrier Corp in Jeannette, Babs & Cox in New York City and Bath Iron Works in Maine, drawing blue prints for the US Navy Destroyers. Harry was a Boy Scout Master for many years in Saltsburg, Pa. and Maine. He volunteered for The Saltsburg Volunteer Fire Dept. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and researching his family tree. He is survived by his daughter, Misty Hess, his brother, John Hess, his adopted children John and Timothy Hess, his niece, Wendy, his nephew, Eric and great nephew Vincenzo. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Patty Conn Maun Salsgiver Hess, his second wife, Carol Dixon Hess, his daughter, Tammy Jo Hess, his brother, Leonard Hess, a sister in law, Sally Hess and his adopted daughter, Karen Hess. Due to public health concerns and our concerns for our families, a private viewing and service will be held at the Kelly L. Corridoni Funeral Home LTD, 400 Indiana Ave., Avonmore, Pa. Interment will be held at Edgewood Cemetery in Saltsburg, Pa. The family would like to thank Dr. Han and the staff at the Communities of Indian Haven for their excellence care and concern for Harry.
