Felix Suarez Obituary

With heartbreak and consolation, we announce the passing of Felix Suárez, of Chambersburg, PA, who's battle with heart failure ended on January 3, 2025. Felix spent his last few days at the Chambersburg hospital where he was surrounded by his daughters, grandchildren, son-in-law’s and a lovely supportive care team. He was laughing and joking until the end. His heart might have given out, but his soul refused to quit.

Born October 16, 1947 in Cayey, Puerto Rico, Felix Suarez Martinez, lived most of his adult life in Pennsylvania. Friends and family called him Fifo, but he was daddy and Papi to those closest to him. Stateside since he was 17, Felix worked for Letterkenny Army Depot and several large fruit orchards. He was particularly proud of the success he had with his tree grafting technique. He believed in hard work and exercise. To say he had a passion for gardening would be an understatement. He felt that digging in the dirt could solve all of your problems. He truly enjoyed growing beautiful things and won several garden awards. Felix was a New York Yankees and Pittsburgh Pirates fan and could often be seen sporting one of their baseball caps, probably backwards. Since retirement, he enjoyed talking with friends, entertaining guests and being a positive member in his community. If you talked to Felix, he'd be sure to tell you about his daughters and grandchildren, for all whom he was quite proud of. He was a jokester and had a contagious smile.

Felix is survived by his two daughters, both from Chambersburg, Yonne Suarez Snavely (Joe Snavely), Sophia Suarez (Doug Gayman), two granddaughters Lily Nolan and Joselyn Snavely, and three grandsons, Kyle Nolan, Hunter Gayman, and Deakon Snavely.

Nine siblings, Juan Suárez (Miriam, NJ), Isabel Suárez (Fausto Reyes, deceased, PR), Aida Luz Suárez (Emerito Reyes, PR), Belén Suárez (Jesús Rodríguez, PR), Rosalina Suárez (PR), José Antonio Suárez (Milagros, PR), María Suárez (NY), Olga Suárez (PR), Evelyn Suárez (PR); and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Felix was preceded in death by his parents, Miguel and Felicita Suarez (PR), and his brother, Angel Miguel Suárez (Esther, PR)

Felix wanted to be remembered how he was when he was at his best and didn't want anyone crying over him. Friends and family are encouraged to celebrate his life by living their own to the fullest, on their terms, and full of what makes them happiest.
