Eugene Joseph Marchitelli

Eugene Joseph Marchitelli, 94, of Avonmore passed away on Friday, April 21, 2023, at Forbes Regional Hospital in Monroeville.  He was born Sunday, September 16, 1928, in Avonmore, PA, the son of the late Alberto and Antonia Sirgusa Marchitelli.  Before his retirement in 1972, he was employed by National Roll in Avonmore.  He was a United States Army Veteran serving during the Korean War.  He enjoyed working outdoors, and followed the family tradition of planting a large garden each year.  He was a Pittsburgh Sports fanatic, most recently attending a Pittsburgh Pirates game which he enjoyed immensely.   He was an immaculate groundskeeper at his home and everything was pristine.  He is survived by one sister, Donna Jacobs, of Dayton, Ohio, numerous nieces and nephews.  Gene has been having health challenges in the past two years, in which time his great nephew, Anthony Marchitelli, was extremely helpful and attentive to him, for which the family is grateful.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Leonard, Romeo and Vincent Marchitelli and two sisters, Florence Marchitelli and Nancy Gasho.  At Gene’s request all services are private and interment will be held at Westview Cemetery in Avonmore.
