Eleanor Lorraine Murphy Baker, 84, of New Alexandria, Pa. passed away on Monday, October 16, 2023, at Hempfield Manor in Greensburg, Pa. She was born on Saturday, May 13, 1939, in New Alexandria, Pa., the daughter of the late Paul Lorain and Ruby Ellen Crusan Murphy. She enjoyed cooking, socializing, visiting friends, doing artwork and painting and teaching Sunday School. Eleanor was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, James F. Baker Sr. of New Alexandria, her children; Bonnie Ann Yingling and her husband, Harvey of Blairsville and James F. Baker Jr and his wife, Christine of Trafford, her grandchildren; Dustin Yingling of Latrobe, James Keith Baker of Trafford and Marrissa Baker of White Oak, her great grandchildren; Preston, Nevaeh and Gavin, her sisters; Mary Ellen Kachonik of Butler and Barbara Shannon of Tunnelton and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters; Naomi Kim, Mildred Amy, Patricia Bengel and Judith Murphy and her brothers; James Murphy and Paul Daniel Murphy. The family would like to thank the amazing caregivers and staff from Hempfield Manor who gave Eleanor great care, love and respect and always treated her with dignity as she suffered through the debilitating disease of Alzheimer’s. Family will receive friends at Corridoni Funeral Services Inc., 400 Indiana Ave., Avonmore, Pa. on Friday, October 20, 2023, from 5:00 PM until time of services at 7:00 PM with Pastor Lee Rupert, officiating.
