Dr. Jessica Ruth Schwarting Good

Dr. Jessica Ruth Schwarting Good passed away Saturday October 2, 2021 at the Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV.

Jessica was born to Leslie Sittner and Jon Michael Schwarting on September 14, 1974 in New York, NY. Her early performances in theatre, choreography, dance, singing, and gymnastics were the beginnings of her varied interests in the world around her.

After graduating from the Northfield Mount Hermon School in Massachusetts, Jessica attended Cornell University College of Human Ecology where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies. She received both her Masters and Doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology from the University of Denver. Jessica completed her clinical internship at Bellevue Hospital Center in New York, NY where she received specialized training in forensic psychology. After moving to Maryland in 2004, she opened her private practice providing therapy for adults, adolescents, and couples as well as conducting psychological and forensic evaluations.

Since childhood Jessica was an inveterate traveler. Joining family or friends to explore the United States, Canada, Europe, South Africa. Everywhere was interesting and exciting. She was an avid outdoors woman; skiing, camping, hiking, biking, and always made time for yoga and contemplation. Jessica was known to all for her creative wardrobe and accessories—especially her jewelry. Her sense of humor and delight in laughter made everyone feel included and special. Her love and devotion to her sons was limitless: cooking amazing meals, supporting all their sports activities, closely following their educational progress, and taking them on adventure after adventure.  And watching movie after movie. Jessica had a lifetime love of cats; many throughout her years growing up—Taylor for 20 years from college to his old age then Ruby and Manny for her sons. They were loved as children.

Jessica was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Arthur and Roberta Schwarting, and uncle, Stephen Schwarting, maternal grandparents, Richard and Ruth Sittner, stepfather, James Hallenbeck, and partner, Rick Campbell. She is survived by her magnificent sons, Owen Good and Brody Good, whom she loved to infinity and beyond (MD), her ex-husband, Andrew Good, the devoted father to these boys (MD), stepmother Beyhan Karahan with half brother Sinan Schwarting, his wife Masha and daughter Kaya (NYC), stepmother Frances Campani with stepsiblings Adam and Alix (NY), Gary and Kathie Schwarting (MA) and cousins Jennifer, niece Ramona (NY) and Beth, nephew Reed (CA), stepsisters Amy Hallenbeck and niece Maddox (PA) and Christine Jarvis (Steve) and nephews Tyler and Carter, niece Charlotte (NY). She is survived by many step-uncles, aunts, and cousins.

In death, as in life, this beautiful woman was generous, caring, and forever helping people live better happier lives. She made us all whole. Her family and many dear friends will miss her dedication to those relationships, her infectious smile, her wit and playfulness, her love.

Calling hours for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, October 12th from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Mitchell - Widenfeld Funeral Home, 6500 York Road, Baltimore, MD 21212.
