Charlene Daugherty Obituary

Charlene Yvonne Daugherty, 65, of Butler, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2025, at Allegheny General Hospital. Born on April 2, 1960, in Grove City, PA, Charlene grew into a woman whose kindness, generosity, and quiet strength touched everyone who knew her.

Charlene was the daughter of the late Raymond Leroy Hanna and Esther Louise Knight, and sister to the late Carolyn Shearer. She is survived by her siblings Roberta McGregor, Raymond Hanna, and David Hanna.

A devoted mother, Charlene was preceded in death by her beloved son, Josh Daugherty. She leaves behind her surviving son, Paul Daugherty, and his wife, Molly Landkrohn, who will carry her spirit forward with love and gratitude. Charlene was a proud and loving grandmother to Zander and Evelyn Daugherty, who adored their “Grammy” and will forever remember her warmth, creativity, and unwavering support.

Charlene worked in retail, and dedicated many years as a Walmart manager, spending many years in lawn and garden tending to plants and preparing the latest seasonal displays. She made many friends during this time. She built a life centered around family, faith, and hard work. She retired recently and found great joy in helping homeschool her grandchildren, showing up for them every school day she could - a gift of love and presence they will never forget.

A woman of Christian faith, Charlene lived by example - always helping those in need, offering comfort without hesitation, and loving without limits. She had a special talent for art and crafts, especially during the holidays.  Christmas was her favorite time of year, and she delighted in making the season magical, often spoiling her children and grandchildren even when she had little to give.

Charlene had a soft spot for animals and found companionship and joy in the cats and dogs she cared for throughout her life. Many times she saved dogs from the pound and found homes for kittens she found on her doorstep.

A memorial service celebrating Charlene’s life will be shared with family and friends at a later date.

Charlene will be remembered for her gentle soul, her endless kindness, her love of family, and the quiet acts of generosity that shaped the lives around her. Her legacy lives on in the love she gave, the lessons she shared, and the memories held close by all who knew her.
