Carole Jean “Cookie” Novosel, 81, of Avonmore, Pa., passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at her home. She was born Saturday, November 8, 1941 in Tinsmill, Pa., the daughter of the late Nicola and Irma Shirley Novosel. Carole was a 1959 graduate of Bell Avon High School. Before her retirement, she worked for Robert Shaw for 21 year as a supervisor of production, Federal Laboratories, now Breeze Industries in the tear gas department, Mosey Inn in Apollo for 10 years as manager, Westinghouse in Blairsville for 13 years and the United States Post Office as a rural carrier for 10 years in Avonmore. She was a member of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church. Carole devoted most of her life taking care of her parents. She enjoyed gardening, reading and loved animals. She donated a great deal of her time to the Bell Twp. Historical Society collecting pictures of yester year to preserve the local history. She is survived by her siblings; Diana Galo and her husband, John “Sonny” of Tinsmill, Nicola Novosel and his wife, Barb of Avonmore, Bertha Shannon and her husband, George of Avonmore and Helen Toy and her husband, Don of Apollo and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 6, 2023 at 10:00 AM at St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, 505 Cambria Ave., Avonmore, Pa. with Father John Harrold and Father Salvatore Lamendola as concelebrants. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cat Crusaders in care of Helen Toy, 385 Markle Rd, Apollo, Pa. 15613. Interment will be held at Westview Cemetery in Avonmore, Pa.
