Amelia Rose Mazuch Speer, 98, of Apollo, passed away on Friday, May 7, 2021 at her home. She was born Monday, June 26 1922 in Carrick, Pa., the daughter of Andrew and Amalia Pfiffer Mazuch. Before moving to Kiski Township in 1951, she lived in Carrack, Mars and Apollo, Pa. Before her retirement, she was a sales clerk at Dimling’s Candy Co in Pittsburgh. She was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Apollo, a former member of the Apollo Garden Club and belonged to the Quilters of the United Methodist Church of Apollo for 35 years. Amelia enjoyed quilting, gardening, canning, baking and crafts. She made wedding cakes until the year 1970. She is survived by her daughter, Susan R. Caraway and her husband, Robert, of Phoenix, AZ, her son, Tim K. Speer of North Apollo, 4 grandchildren , Robert Caraway, Andrew Caraway, Kasandra (Jason) Coates and Shawn Caraway, 2 great grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews in Pittsburgh and Germany. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Dale D. Speer on February 18, 2009, a son, David D. Speer in 2016, her brothers, Andrew Mazuch, Harry Mazuch, an infant brother, Willie Mazuch and a nephew, Skip Mazuch. Graveside services will be held on Monday, May 10, 2021 at Riverview Cemetery in Apollo, Pa. at 11:00 AM.
