Alice D. (Durandetto) Calderone, 96, passed away on Saturday, September 27,2025. She had lived most of her life in the Apollo area. Alice was born on Sunday, June 30, 1929, to Viola (Moore) Slicker and Oscar Durandetto. She was also the stepdaughter of James Slicker. Snookie was a member of the Apollo class of 1948 and married her jr. high sweetheart in 1950. She was an immaculate homemaker who took great pride in a clean house. Alice was a member of St. James Roman Catholic Church in Apollo and volunteered for several years at St. Vincent de Paul in Apollo where she enjoyed the many friendships she made there. Snookie loved a good yard sale and could often be seen cruising in her Cadillac looking for bargains. For many years, she also enjoyed camping with her husband Sam. She is survived by her daughter Alyce (Gary) Zuchelli of Greensburg and a son, Samuel (Tammy) Calderone of Apollo, her grandchildren, Steven Zuchelli of Tampa, Fl., Alanna (Diego) Zuchelli Espinoza of Arlington, Va., Samantha (Kevin) O’Toole of Oakmont and her great grandchildren, Oliver and Ruby O’Toole and Mila and Lina Espinoza. In addition to her parents, Alice was preceded in death by the love of her life, Samuel Calderone on December 1, 1992, and her sister, Irene Travaglia in 2016. In lieu of flowers, if so wished, donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society at 116 North Plaza, Apollo, Pa. 15613 or the Apollo Memorial Library at 219 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Apollo, Pa. 15613. All funeral arrangements are private.
