Steven "Sonny" Camille DeFalco

Steven “Sonny” Camille DeFalco, 77, of East Vandergrift, passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa. surrounded by his loving family. He was born Thursday, December 26, 1940 in Slickville, Pa., the son of the late Camille and Lucy Sqalio DeFalco. He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church in East Vandergrift , where is served as an usher and sang in the choir. Sonny enjoyed gambling at the Rivers Casino.  He also enjoyed watching old westerns, thrifting and bargain hunting, gardening and was an avid Pirates fan.  He played a “mean” trumpet in the polka band the Val Aires for many years. He served as a councilman for 15 plus years in East Vandergrift and belonged to the PNA #791 also in East Vandergrift. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Susanne Grace Hoover DeFalco, 3 sons; Jeffrey DeFalco and his wife, Michele, of Brick Church, Michael DeFalco and his wife, Melissa, of Leechburg, James DeFalco and his wife, Rachel, of East Vandergrift and a daughter, Nicole DeFalco Marutiak and her husband, Robert, of Indianaola, 9 grandchildren; Brandon, Sara, Evan, Zachary, Jacob, Dominic and Daniel DeFalco, Joseph Bielek, and Reed Marutiak , a sister, Rose Ann Cantola of Niles, OH., his father in-law , Charles “Bill” Hoover of Avonmore  numerous nieces and nephews, and his faithful companion, his dog  Rooney. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by 2 sisters; Viola Painter and Linda “Dolly” Bellan, 2 brothers, Guerino  DeFalco and Gene DeFalco and a niece, Kristina DeFalco Scott. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm in the Kelly L. Corridoni Funeral Home LTD, 1916 Moore Ave., North Apollo. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, March 1, 2018 at 10am at Our Lady Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church, 400 Kennedy Ave., East Vandergrift, Pa, with Father Michael Sciberras  as celebrant. Entombment will be held at Greenwood Memorial Park in Lower Burrell, Pa.  Family suggest in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made in Sonny’s name to Our Lady Queen  of Peace, 400 Kennedy Ave., East Vandergrift, Pa. 15629.
