Samuel S. Carnabuci, 80, of Avonmore, Pa. died on Monday, May 22, 2017 at his home, after a long battle of heart, liver and kidney disease.  Sam was born in Avonmore, Pa. to Vincenzo and Mary Muscolino Carnabuci on January 9, 1937. He graduated from Kiski Prep School in Saltsburg, Pa. and attended college at St. Vincent, Latrobe, Pa.  Sam was discharged from the U.S. Army Reserve in December 1963.  Sam was married for 48 years to Anita Charlton Carnabuci and lived his entire life in Avonmore, Pa.  Sam and Anita spent many winters in Sarasota, Fl. from 1990 to 2016.  He was employed by the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission and was the Assistant Executive Director of the Western Division.  He retired in 1995 after 35 years of employment.  Sam was very active in local politics for most of his life. He enjoyed gardening in Pa and he had many citrus trees at his home in Sarasota, Fl. that he cultivated and shared the fruit with neighbors.  He loved talking on the phone and visiting with his many friends about politics and gardening.  He was preceded in death by his parents and two infant brothers.  Sam is survived by his wife, Anita Charlton Carnabuci, brother Guy and his wife Marie, sister Dominica and her husband James Mckay, a nephew Vincent Carnabuci and his sons Dillon and Hunter, a niece Marie Mckay Schmitt and her daughters Angela and Elena, a niece Sharon McKay Komandt and her son DJ and daughter Mary, a niece Melissa McKay Swift and her daughter Megan and son James.  There will be no viewing as requested by Sam.  Mass will be celebrated at St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church in Avonmore, Pa. on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at 10am with Father Salvatore Lamendola as celebrant.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to:  Family Hospice, 50 Moffett St. Pittsburgh, Pa. 15243 or St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 505 Cambria Ave., Avonmore, Pa. 15618.  To view and send on line condolences visit us at www.corridonifuneralhomes.com
