Mae Louise (Davis) Appleby

Mae Louise Davis Appleby, 90, of Avonmore, passed away Friday, June 24, 2016, in Loyalhanna Care Center, Latrobe. She was born Sept. 10, 1925, in Evans City, a daughter of the late Frank L. and Olive M. Davison Davis. Mae was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Avonmore. Before her retirement in 1993, she was employed by The Kiski (Prep) School, in Saltsburg, as a secretary in accounts payable. Mae enjoyed woodworking, crafting, cooking and jigsaw puzzles. She was a 1943 graduate of Mars High School. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Eugene W. Appleby; two children, Susan S. Appleby, of Macon, Ga., and Richard A. Appleby, of San Francisco, Calif.; and two sisters, Joyce C. Courtney and her husband, Melvin, of Avonmore, and Alice R. Teslik, of Cranberry. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Jane Meeder. Family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until time of services at 6 p.m. Monday, June 27, 2016, in the KELLY L. CORRIDONI FUNERAL HOME LTD., 400 Indiana Ave., Avonmore. Services will be conducted at 6 p.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Larry Armstrong officiating. Interment will be held Tuesday at Plains Church Presbyterian Cemetery, Cranberry. In lieu of flowers, family suggests contributions be made in Mae’s memory to First Presbyterian Church, 518 Indiana Ave., Avonmore, PA 15618 or to the Avonmore Public Library, 619 Allegheny Ave., Avonmore, PA 15618.
