James Leroy Held

James Leroy Held Sr. 78 of North Apollo Passed away Sunday November 27, 2016 at his home. He was born May 16, 1938 in North Apollo the son of the late Thomas B. and Elizabeth Truby Held. Before his retirement, he was a truck driver for Stivason and Son’s Trucking in Avonmore, for over thirty years, and at Torrance State Hospital in the Nursing Department. He was a United States Navy Veteran. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, old movies, his trips to the ocean, and sailing. He is survived by three daughters, Jamie Lynn Straka and her husband of Bill of West Kittanning, Cynthia D. Geist of Daytona Beach Florida, and Mary Beth Held of Apollo, three sons, Thomas H. Held and his wife Tina of Vandergrift, John C. Held and his wife Chrissy of Athol Massachusetts, and James Leroy Held Jr. and his wife Darla of Vandergrift, 19 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mary Jane Stiffey and her husband Larry of Apollo. in addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a grandson, Chad Bonelli, and a brother, Thomas B. “Tink” Held Jr. Family will receive friends on Thursday December 1, 2016 from 5:00 PM until time of services at 8:00 PM in the Kelly L. Corridoni Funeral Home, LTD. 1916 Moore Ave, North Apollo. Services will be held at the funeral home with the Reverend Paul Reiner officiating. Internment will take place at Riverview Cemetery in Apollo at the family’s convenience.
