Bertha Lee (Booker) Banks

 Reverend Bertha Lee Booker Banks 85 of Avonmore passed away Saturday April 23, 2016 at her home. She was born August 1, 1930 in West Blocton, Alabama the daughter of the late L.B. and Lizzie Mae Cleveland Booker. Before her retirement in 1997 she was employed by Federal Laboratories in Saltsburg as a machine operator for over thirty two years. Bertha was a 1950 graduate of Avonmore High School. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Avonmore, where she was a pianist, Financial Secretary, Deaconess, and Missionary. She also held the position of Pastor and Assistant Pastor. Bertha enjoyed crocheting, reading and “working puzzles”. She will always be remembered as a quiet, yet strong individual whose conviction in her belief in the Lord was apparent. She loved everyone, and was always eager to help. She is survived by six children; Patricia A. Anderson and her husband Frank of New Kensington, Ralph R. Banks and his wife Gerri of Cincinnati, Ohio, Robert H. “Bobby” Banks and his wife Bonnie of Export, Victoria L. Stevens and her husband Carey of Penn Hills, Darlene R. Whitehead of Avonmore, and William H. Banks and his wife Miriam of Avonmore, Twenty grandchildren and numerous great, and great-great grandchildren, a brother L.B. Booker and his wife Jane of Cleveland, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Lorin Banks in 2005,  her son Lorin L. Banks, and her sister Mattie Bailey. Family will receive friends on Wednesday April 27, 2016 from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 P.M. in the Kelly L. Corridoni Funeral Home Ltd. 400 Indiana Ave. Avonmore. Additional visitation will be held Thursday April 28, 2016 at the First Baptist Church in Avonmore beginning at 11:00 A.M. with Music and concluding at 1:00 P.M. with a Home Going Service. Reverend “Ronnie” Banks will officiate. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery, Avonmore.
